I Got a Bag-All-You-Can Scholastic Books

We went to the 31st Manila International Book Fair on its last day which meant yesterday. I was really hoping to still get a bag in the Scholastic Books booth for the “bag-all-you-can” promo.

And I did. Woohoo! My total bill was PhP7,740 but I only paid for PhP995.00. Now what bargain could be better than that? I didn’t get just any books, these are Scholastic Books that we definitely love. Just ask my Geronimo Stilton fans in the house 😉

I got teacher reference books, mostly worksheets for reading comprehension, vocabulary, math, and writing.

We got books from other bookstores like recipe books (there goes the effective weight loss program I plan to start), the Time Almanac for Kids 2010 and 2011 for the son, ghost stories for the older daughter, Chikiting storybooks from Vibal and a Thea Stilton book for the youngest child.

We Love Book Sale

The bookstore is one of the many places we love to go to especially when there is a book sale going on.

We got some new books during the summer sale at a nearby bookstore the other day. I got a Jonathan Kellerman (Php99.00 or a little more than $2) book while the kids got an Enid Blyton book (PhP50.00 or a little more than $1) with several stories inside including The Little White Rabbit.

Several office supplies for the eldest daughter were also purchased since she needs these for her school projects which are due for submission this week. She already did her Math portfolio and needs to complete two more projects for her clearance.

In a few weeks time, we would start purchasing school supplies again for the next school year. School year begins on the first week of June. For now the kids will enjoy two months of vacation bliss.

Frugal Christmas: Bargain Books for Kids

In keeping up with my practice of having a Frugal Christmas, I got a good bargain yesterday.

What are these things? Bargain books from a bargain book store.

Of course, most of the books being sold in these stores are already used so I was careful to choose what I have to get, lest I be thought of as cheapo to the max 😀

Anyway, these were some of the books I got:

The least expensive is PhP25.00 or $.0.50 (Php49.00 = $1).

The most expensive is PhP55.00 or $1.10.
