G is a very close friend, an only child, an accountant, who went abroad to work as a caregiver to help with the expenses of her ailing father.
Yes, filial responsibilities fall heavy on the shoulders of children of Chinese heritage in this country, and this is true too to most of us Filipinos.
It was really sad when her father died and she was not able to come home to say her goodbyes to him, one of the reasons she went overseas to look for better paying work.
As of now, she is working with immigration attorneys for her immigration documents to be properly documented and her stay there made legal.
