Today is a non-working holiday because of the Barangay Elections or election of officials for the local government units. In Twitter, tweeps are doing the #juanvote by the way.
If only casting votes during barangay elections are as peaceful as just submitting websites to freedirectorysubmission.com, then perhaps more people would be involved.
Why Vote? Here are some reasons to vote.
The hubby and I always vote. Except for the barangay elections which I know is just as important as voting for the city mayor and the city council. But since we do not know the candidates, (like we know the candidates for the higher positions, huh?) we hardly ever voted during this kind of election.
Barangay elections are oftentimes bloody. Yes, candidates are getting offed here and there. It is a familial “war” where families with stake fight each other for local governance and power. And their supporters are sometimes worst than the candidates when it comes to showing their so-called “power”
And the SK? Sangguniang Kabataan, someone even said it is the Corruption 101. OMG. I hope it is not true.
I know, I know, the change we want starts small and there is absolutely no buts when things get worse than it already is and we didn’t participate and had our votes counted.
Now, I guess I have to wake the hubby up so that we go out and vote. Hoorah.
