Holy Week is coming and a lot of people have already plotted their destinations long before the Lenten season has started. Why ever not, this week is one of the times when people don’t go to work because of so-called Christian duties to observe the Holy Week, or several days of holy obligations.
Trips to the beaches are popular destinations. Some go to other countries like Hong Kong and Singapore to shop while there is this family I know who booked hotels before visiting their relatives in the USA.
I am having some second thoughts about this time of the year though.
Our country is supposed to be the only one espousing Roman Catholic in this part of Asia but during this time when people should be praying and observing the rites that their churches have.
Otherwise, this week should be declared as non-holiday, or as a working week. I know the church has no hold on how these people celebrate this Holy Week but I think it is better if people reflect not just on the significance of the death and resurrection of Jesus but also reflect on how they can do things that will in their own little ways, make a difference.
No, I did am not getting carried away by my emotion, this is really my stand.
What about you?
