Price Watch: Glad Press ‘n Seal

Two weeks ago when we needed to buy groceries, our favorite supermarket had lines of people that go till between the aisles. The husband decided to go to a nearby supermarket for the immediate supplies (read: food to be cooked) we need.

I didn’t want to but between choosing to cook nothing versus buying there, the lack of food won over my resolve to not buy from that supermarket. Why? because being a price watcher, I know that their prices are outrageous.

Here is a sample:

Looking for a New Fridge

It is time that we get a new refrigerator because ours is not really that old but the space is not enough for our needs anymore.

As with all things new, we want ours to be efficient, easy on the eyes and having the right space for the freezer meals I want to go back to.

This samsung rf197acrs  caught my attention because of the following features:

  • Humidity Controlled Crispers
  • 3 Adjustable Glass Shelves
  • Internal Digital Display
  • LED Lighting
  • Ice Maker

More details:

  • 17.8 cu. ft. capacity
  • EnergyStar compliant
  • Internal digital temperature display
  • Surround Air Flow provides even cooling throughout the refrigerator to maintain optimal temperatures for freshness
  • Power freeze and power chill settings provide a fast freeze or fast chill in minutes
  • Automatic ice maker refills ice bin automatically

Definitely what we need.

Lost in the Aisles

I’ve written about this a few times but it is no secret that I enjoy going to hardware stores. Not that I always need things to buy but whenever I have a chance (like when the hubby has to get some dog food) I go in and take a look at the wonderful things being sold there. I like spending time looking at color swatches, those things like the tools and handles that I always see at http://www.reidsupply.com plus the gardening essentials.

There is this one hardware store though that I particularly like because at the back part, I can get really inexpensive Japanese products that I use for the lunchboxes of the children 🙂

Bawang

Funny how other countries use a word one knows to be something to refer to a totally different thing.

Bawang is garlic in Filipino.

Bawang = Onion

Bwang Goreng however is fried onions/shallots.

Sibuyas is onions in Filipino.
