Yes, it was one cool October day when I officially started my special education blog, Teacher Julie. I was blogging then, using free blogging platform and I was maintaining three. Hah, quite toxic for me since the contents were just the same. Never would I thought that putting contents in three blogs would just prep my blogging behavior now that I am maintaining three four active personal blogs. That excludes my blog for my homeschooling children and the group blog about parenting.
Starting a blog then was something alien to me because being used to free blogging platforms, I did not particularly know how to start from scratch. The terms CMS, web hosting, and some technical terms were baffling. Truth is, up to now I really have no idea how to propagate a blog because it is THE hubby who does that for me.
First I had to have some web hosting tutorials which I got from my husband who patiently taught me how to go through the WordPress buttons. He didn’t know a thing about blogging then too, even if he is in Information Technology so he had to read a lot of web hosting articles.
Then of course I had to settle in choosing how much I have to shell out to pay the hosting of my site. After reading through a lot of sites looking for the “perfect” web hosting rating that I can afford, I finally settled with someone who ended up to be very helpful, reliable and friendly. Why not, my web hosting provider gave me extra bandwidth when I came short and used up all my allotted space when my blog was starting to have traffic. For that I am very much thankful.
Should I really care about web hosting awards? I think I should be because the end users are the ones who rate the services so I should care. I have heard some nasty remarks about web hosting problems and I do not want to go through all of those.
Blogging has opened a window of opportunities for me. More than the gaining of new friends and the extra income that I derive from it, am glad that I am able to help other people, especially families who have children with special needs. Through this blog too, am able to write about opinions on the state of affairs of the country, my thoughts on social issues and my stand on these things.
How has blogging been helpful to you?
