I didn’t go to work today because my eldest daughter needed to do a dental visit because of a dental problem. No dental procedure was done yet and we have to go back after a week.
She has a good appetite as adolescents usually have and would probably not resort to having appetite suppressant since she has a positive sense of self so there is no need to stop her from eating to avoid the tooth from getting painful due to food residue
So, what are the things one should remember to do when doing a dental visit with a child who has a dental problem?
- Explain the child’s condition. If the child is mature enough to explain what is the problem, let her/him talk to the dentist.
- Ask for different options you can have regarding the condition of the child.
- Do not be afraid to ask what the fees are. If several procedures will be done, ask if a discount is possible.
- Keep appointments especially if you need to go back for further tests.
Dentists are not scary. They can be the friend who will make you smile better
