Be Creative

My youngest daughter is very creative and she just loves to create wonderful things like origami, illustrations, DIY Tech Deck ramps and even her own DIY ring. Well, this ring below is nowhere near as detailed as these artcarved class rings but for us, it looks like a million bucks 😀

Let children be creative because it it through their creativity that they can think of great solutions to problems, express themselves or just have fun.

Music for the Bored

Eldest daughter is complaining about some keys in the piano not functioning. By piano she means the one in MIL’s home. We don’t have one at home but we have a Korg which basically is not categorically a piano.

Anyway, am glad my children like music and even if they have no real formal training to speak of, they are able to appreciate music especially being cooped in the house for a week due to inclement weather conditions. I’m sure some students are bored they are looking forward going back to school, to having PE, practice with bundy clarinet woodwind brasswind practice, playing with friends and catching up on lessons.

I myself am looking forward to that because it means the weather is better.

Avocado Slices

‘Tis the season for avocado in this country. What can you do with avocado?

The usual preparation would be to put milk and sugar and just dig in. We did that the other day but before digging in, I froze the mashed avocado mixed with muscovado sugar and evaporated milk.

Yum!

A Roll of Tape for the Books

Its that time of the year when I have to wrap books and notebooks. I don’t enjoy doing this. I decided to go a bit easy and do something else like I’ve seen with a student’s books: use tape on the edges of the book.

Knowing the importance of packing materials I got a roll of tape that should hold the book corners and avoid the dog eared look. I know this is wishful thinking knowing how children don’t always do what they are supposed to like put the expensive books in the bag properly.

School Days are Here

School starts in June where we live.

I have seen hordes of school children going to and coming from their schools. College students wearing white nursing shoes and coats, pinned name plates and lugging around heavy bags are also a familiar sight in the areas where universities abound.

My children start school next week and I am looking forward to another year of challenges and maybe a change in discipline tactics 😀

I miss summer days when I think of the time I need to get up and prepare packed food.
