Protect Your Online Identity

Last week in Facebook, I requested a former student‘s mom to be a friend. She redirected me instead to another FB account.

Why?

Because the account I first saw which I thought was her, was in fact, created by another person! Yes, the fraud was using her name and made friends with her real friends and relatives.

I got an FB account using my real name so that I could escape the dilemma she is going through. I signed up so that I could play Farm Town with my friends so that I am sure that it is I who is using my real name.

I have read in an online article (which I can’t find anymore because I did not bookmark it) about doing this, signing up using your real name when joining online sites including social networking sites, to be able to protect one’s online identity and reputation.

So there, if you have to sign up for things like this, use your real names otherwise, people with not-so-good intentions will use yours.

You would not want that, do you?

My Favorite Love Songs

Valentine’s day has come and gone but as they say, the memories remain. So now i ask, what are the songs that touched your hearts? By the way,i am mobile blogging so i will finish this post once i go online.

UPDATE:

At last, I am online, been busy reading a book which I can’t put down, my apologies 🙂

My husband and I are fond of music played on the piano particularly jazz We love New Wave too 🙂

Employment Woes

Everyone is well aware of the credit crunch and the downturn of most countries all over the world, unless one has been living under a rock to notice this economic downtrend.

Here in the Philippines, a country considered third world, dollar remittances from its Overseas Filipino Workers stationed all over the world keep the economy afloat. Even with these coming in, employment problems hound its citizens like a proverbial dark shadow.

Even those who have graduated from college find it difficult to find employment opportunities that best fit their qualifications. They either end up going abroad in search of greener pastures or end up working the graveyard shift in business process outsourcing companies. Nothing bad about this though. Dreams can be on hold for the mean time. Read more »

WordPress 2.7 Beta 1

When we attended the WordCamp Philippines 2008 last September, the highlight of the event was the unveiling of the new WordPress called 2.7 which is due this November.

First I have been putting off writing a post about this because my memory card got busted and all my photos were there. I have forgotten about this until I remembered that the files were recovered. Bah.

In the State of the Word talk, Matt showed us some photos of this 2.7 version.

WP 2.7 dashboard.

WordPress 2.7 Plugin page.

For now, the WP 2.7 is still in Beta 1. Click here to read about it. Click here if you want to download and test.

I would probably wait until the end of the month, the probable time they will have the final release, before I download this version. For now, I wait. Impatiently 😀
