Looking For Work?

It used to be that college graduates take it easy before plunging in the real world of job-seeking challenges. Before they do so, they relax for a bit and take a break. They either have Orlando vacations, or have backpacking European trips or maybe exploring mountain peaks.

With the economic crunch happening, they don’t get to do that anymore.

Not unless they come from a moneyed family with a position in the company waiting for them after their foray out in the wild.

Gone are the days that these graduates get to choose the company they want to work for.

At best, they get a job that suits their qualifications and skills. At worst, they work odd hours or do labor-heavy work earning just a fraction of what they think they should earn.

Times have changed indeed. Real life lessons are now learned the hard way.

Love Your Job

With the global economy slowing down, people do not choose what kind of work they have anymore. This is so true especially to those living in the third world countries like ours.

While it is also true that some people are choosy with the kind of employment they have, others make do and are thankful that they have work that pays even if the pay is meager, even if it means being away from their families. Sigh.

Others find work beyond their qualifications while they weigh their options. Nothing wrong here.

Employment Woes

Everyone is well aware of the credit crunch and the downturn of most countries all over the world, unless one has been living under a rock to notice this economic downtrend.

Here in the Philippines, a country considered third world, dollar remittances from its Overseas Filipino Workers stationed all over the world keep the economy afloat. Even with these coming in, employment problems hound its citizens like a proverbial dark shadow.

Even those who have graduated from college find it difficult to find employment opportunities that best fit their qualifications. They either end up going abroad in search of greener pastures or end up working the graveyard shift in business process outsourcing companies. Nothing bad about this though.
