Facebook: People Tagging Others With Their Merchandise

Facebook has got to be THE one for the books in terms of having the most number of subscribers. Everybody and his aunt are on Facebook, even pets, jejemons and attention-seeking people. Especially attention seeking people.

In all its intricacies and simplicity, good points and bad, Facebook is a great repository of links, helpful or not, happy or sad. People ogle at their friends’ travels, baby photos, status updates on what they are currently doing at the right time and begin to get engrossed in a virtual world that seem to be happening in real life. Aminin!

At times, Facebook feels like people are back in high school, boasting about how many friends they have, whether or not they know these people personally or not.

Facebook has become a place to chat, keep up, brag, give one’s POV on the latest happenings around the world or just plain updating on things that are important like family, significant milestones and changes.

Judging by how people seem to congregate to this Social Media, it is but right to assess how much one can get involved and how one should let other people get involved in their accounts.

For me, the key ingredient in interacting with people in Facebook would be PRIVACY. This is one of the reasons why I was not easily accessible in Facebook early on when I signed up because I’ve set my profile to not get friend invites from people. I instead was the one requesting people to be friends with me. Looking back, this was kinda pathetic but hey, at least I get to choose who I get to see in my time line. Read more »

Viral Videos

Don’t people, (ok I mean “we”) love viral videos. Cute furry animals running after a ball or maybe trying to catch his tail or even  those sitting on ATVs like polaris rzr accessories plus laughing babies never fail to warm our hearts and tickle our fancy.

But, there is another kind of viral videos. These are the ones that show how certain people, caught unaware or otherwise in uncompromising situations that may want them to hide under a rock for ten years. Like the wife scorned who chanced upon her husband’s mistress or the star dancer who tripped and fell on stage.

We probably cringed, laughed, scratched our heads and even tsk-tsked our thoughts out loud which means “I wouldn’t want to be in her/his place at that very moment”.

I just hope people would not make some videos viral just for fun especially if one’s reputation is at stake. I hope I’m not wishing upon an invisible star with this one.

How to Get the new Facebook Profile

I’ve logged in my Facebook account and saw that some friends have new Facebook profiles.

Of course I had to look 😀 When I did I was surprised, not because there were photos of them in jacuzzi tubs but because I felt there is just too much information for everyone, I mean for FB contacts to see.

On the new profile page header, one can read about a contact’s personal information:

  • married to/in relationship with ______
  • current work information
  • education
  • place where the person lives
  • birthday

On the sidebar, the following can be seen:

  • profile photo of family members
  • friends categorized according to lists made (ie HS Friends, Co-workers, neighbors, cousins). When friends link is click, there appears the friends’ profiles in a gallery. Hmmm…

Interested on how to get the new Facebook profile page? Here’s how:

  1. go to http://www.facebook.com/about/profile/
  2. click on the green button on the upper right side that has the words: “Get the New Profile
  3. And you get the new Facebook  profile page

I may have to beg off doing that for now.

Our Little Online Biz

Aside from blogging, the hubby and I engage in a little online business. We have several friends’ online accounts and some of hubby’s corporate clients in our roster. We don’t really earn from this little biz but from what little we get, this is enough to cover for monthly expenses which include my sites since I am not paying, lol.

Not much problem since we started except one that has to do with our friend. The problem’s resolved for now, I hope it won’t resurrect again and have us scratching our heads and tsk-tsking where we went wrong.

I’m not saying we are the best web hosting provider in this little corner of our universe but no one’s complaining. Yet 😀

Blog Traffic Through the Use of Social Media

Yes, the use of Social Media increases blog traffic and/or page views.

Social media sites can help increase your blog traffic. Among those social media tools can use are Twitter, Facebook, Google Buzz, Digg, LinkedIn and the list goes on and on.

Of course, to get the hits you are aiming for, it is important to invest time and energy to put your blog links to these sites.

Here are a few tips to increase blog traffic through the use of social media sites:

  • Make sure your topic is interesting enough to be read by others. In other words: Content is STILL king!
  • Be precise and write using words that can be easily understood.
  • Do not try to attempt to do link baiting by writing a trending topic link only to find out that the post is entirely about a different topic
  • Be straightforward in writing your topics. If you need to write how people can buy term life insurance, then do not attach a link entitled “top 10 cutest pet puppies”
  • Schedule putting the links depending on the location of your readers
  • Visit other blogs or sites and make yourself “visible” by engaging in a virtual conversation. Pretty soon, these writers will visit you too

Given the know-how on how you can promote your blog is not that much important if you do not write good contents. So start writing good quality blog posts and you will soon see that people will read what you wrote.

Your readers agreeing or disagreeing with what you wrote is another matter of course 😉
