That Extra Hour

I have used this quote in a post I made with Photo Hunters Time theme in my special education blog. This gave me the inspiration to write the question for this week.

“The butterfly counts not months but moments, and has time enough.” -Rabindranath Tagore

In this busy world we live in, we do two or three things simultaneously. We cut back on our sleep. We clean the house while the food is simmering in the stove. We rush here and there. There never seem enough time to do all the things that have to be done. We never seem to have enough time.

Now I ask you this Weekly Question #7:

If we set aside an extra hour each day to do what we would rather do and not what we should be doing, what would you choose to do?

My answer:

If I have an extra hour each day, I would spend it with my husband and the children and for myself. My two younger children and I spend our days together because they home school but we spend this doing school work and learning.

With my husband, I will spend this time alone with him, just like when it was just the two of us. We spend time together daily, during breakfast or dinner and the whole three meals during weekends, watching a movie or TV series at home, working side by side, but most of the time, one or two kids are hovering around.

With my children, I would spend this time talking with them, exchanging jokes, listening to their thoughts and their dreams. We could probably spend this hour doing something creative, a project that we will enjoy doing.

With myself, I would spend this time, even just a few minutes, to reflect, to talk to God and to just “listen to my thoughts”.

Time is probably one of the greatest gifts we can ever give to anyone. How long does it take to express your love? To call your parents and asking how their day was? To send a text message to friends, greeting them?

Of course, the greatest gift we can ever give is love.

There is never enough time to do everything, but there is always enough time to do the most important thing. – Brian Tracy

As A Friend, I am…

img_0384b.jpg

Weekly Question #6 was inspired by the Flame of Friendship post:

Can you describe yourself as a friend? Or how do your friends describe you as a friend?

I can not really describe myself as a friend but I will try to do so without putting too much superlatives about me being a friend.

  • I am an all-weather friend: in times of sunny days when life is good, I am here as well as in times of life’s storms and ups and downs, I am there as well too.
  • I may be able to tell my friends wonderful words of wisdom and prayers but from my mouth will come out tactless remarks, intended or not, that will hurt the others.
  • I may be depended upon to do things for and with my friends but not all the time, especially now that I am married.
  • I am a funny friend and can make my friends laugh easily but I cry buckets of tears, sometimes more than them, even when they are the ones hurt.
  • I may forget birthdays and celebrations not because I am thoughtless but because i am too busy with work and family matters.
  • I am willing the give help when I can and if I can to the friend of a friend of a friend, ok, you got the picture.
  • I remember the fun times as well as the not-so-fun times.
  • I am grateful for the friends I have had and still have. I treasure the moments we have shared. I learned a lot from them and their experiences.
  • I also treasure online friendships with a few bloggers who have not only touched my heart but who I learn valuable lessons from.

Now if you time to spare, here is a link to a written piece entitled On Friendship by Kahlil Gibran.

Tough Times are Here, What Lies Ahead?

img_1522b.jpg

Weekly Question #5

Let’s try to be a little practical and wise and philosophical this week and answer this question:

What lies ahead for me (and my family) during these tough times? Do we know where we are heading?

Tatay of my Children

litratongpinoy2.gif

Tatay (Filipino term for Daddy) is what my children call their father, my loving husband. He is good to the children, he does things for them, he is sweet to them and he spoils has the tendency to allow them to do what they want but he seldom gets angry at them because that is my domain, lol!

Mas gusto niyang mamasyal na malapit sa nature kesa pumunta sa mga malls.

As much as possible, he would rather go for nature walks or nature tripping than go malling.

Para naman sa aking sariling Tatay, meron akong isinulat dito. Puwede din kayong sumali dito sa pagsusulat na ito, kung me oras kayo.

For my father, I wrote something here about him. You can join me as I write posts, if you still have spare time.
