Lots of people have already started with their Christmas shopping. I know of some people who are done with theirs as I write this post.

Its just a few weeks before Christmas and everything seems to be hurrying by. The days are getting shorter. The people are hurrying to and fro.

There is something about Christmas really that makes one feel frantic. Perhaps it is because its that time of the year when reports have to be filed, work has to be completed, shopping has to be done to avoid crowds and traffic jams.

Since the advent of the internet, shopping can now be done in a breeze. How? Through online shopping of course.

There is no need to brave through the crowds, wait in line to pay and deal with kids who think the mall is their playground online shopping is done. Shopping in the comfort of one’s own home has never been better.

I still haven’t thought of anything yet to give to my husband but I am thinking he might appreciate getting something like this to start working on his carpentry skills:

Wishful thinking 😀

October Was When I Officially Started My Blog

Yes, it was one cool October day when I officially started my special education blog, Teacher Julie. I was blogging then, using free blogging platform and I was maintaining three. Hah, quite toxic for me since the contents were just the same. Never would I thought that putting contents in three blogs would just prep my blogging behavior now that I am maintaining three four active personal blogs. That excludes my blog for my homeschooling children and the group blog about parenting.

Starting a blog then was something alien to me because being used to free blogging platforms, I did not particularly know how to start from scratch. The terms CMS, web hosting, and some technical terms were baffling. Truth is, up to now I really have no idea how to propagate a blog because it is THE hubby who does that for me.

First I had to have some web hosting tutorials which I got from my husband who patiently taught me how to go through the WordPress buttons. He didn’t know a thing about blogging then too, even if he is in Information Technology so he had to read a lot of web hosting articles.

Blogging Can be Hazardous to Your Work

I have blogged about blogging hazards before but I just can’t remember where I have written the post and here is the link 😀

Can blogging be hazardous to your work?

Yes it is,whether one works in a workplace or if one is a stay-at-home-person. How and when can blogging be hazardous?

Here are some, yes, some signs:

  • Are you more often than not late for work because you blogged till the wee hours?
  • Is your dominant wrist hurting?
  • Do you talk about what other people are saying, unofficially, rather than quoting the dailies?
  • Do you get the news faster than the media networks?
  • Do you feel happy when you have a free day to blog?
  • Do you take photos of anything and everything that you can probably write a blog post about?
  • Do you try to jot down thoughts that you just had before you forget, and write a post about it?
  • Do you constantly think about what you are going to write next?
  • Do you forget to cook your meal or prepare your food because you just had to finish reading or editing this last post?
  • Do the dishes pile up in the sink?
  • Are the clothes scattered on the floor and not picked up? Yet?
  • Are your front flabs sagging more and more?
  • Do your eyes feel tired and dry and hurting?
  • Do you feel like you want to sleep whenever you have the chance to do so?
  • Do you have ants on your computer table due to the crumbs that fall when you eat in front of your computer?
  • Do you bring your laptop anywhere with you?
  • Do yo know more about what is happening to your blogger friends’ lives than your relatives or neighbors who don’t?

Ah, there are still so many things to notice but these will do for now.

How many did you check?

Here is an interesting snippet that I want to share which I quoted here in this post:

In the end, the biggest threat isn’t that you’ll fail to learn to blog. It’s that if you blog regularly for long enough, and begin to get comments and links from other bloggers, you’ll have trouble doing your day job.
