Craving for Blueberries

It was almost about this time last year when we had some fresh blueberries given by a student. It is from a place up north where these can be bought fresh and not frozen. All things berries like strawberries and blackberries can be bought there.

I wonder if they sell strawberry, blueberry or Blackberry plants? Still I would wonder if these will survive the hot temperature we have here in the lowlands.

Now that I have started baking, I am craving for some fresh blueberries so that I can make blueberry muffins. Now these definitely wold be bestsellers with my children πŸ™‚

Taking Good Photographs

There are several things things that make a photo look good.

Does the subject look more interesting in the photo than in real life? Does the photo show creativity? Is the lighting adequate? Does it have good color balance? Is the subject recognizable? Are your hands stable enough or do you need a tripod?

The questions above are just a few of the things that can be asked in being able to say that one has taken good photographs.

As I have heard people say, it is not how advanced nor how expensive the camera is but how a photographer is able to see things through the lens and being able to capture these make one a good photographer.

I still have some trouble taking great food photos but in time, I hope, I would be able to do these with pride πŸ™‚

Lilang Balabal

Lila ang tema sa linggong ito para sa Litratong Pinoy. Purple/Violet is the theme for this week’s Litratong Pinoy.

Uso sa panahong me kaginawan ang gumamit ng balabal (pero sa kasong ito, parang tela lang to at hindi korteng tatsulok). Kahit nga hindi malamig, marami akong nakikitang gumagamit nito. Bakit kanyo? Kasi naka-sleeveless sila pero malaki ang braso kaya gumagamit ng pantakip. Guilty ako na malaki ang braso ko, pero hindi na lang ako mag-sleeveless na tatakpan naman. Ay ang sama ko. πŸ˜€

The “in” thing to use during cold weather is the shawl although it just looks like a piece of cloth and not exactly a shawl with the triangular shape. Even if its not very cold, I see a lot of women using this. Why? They wear sleeveless clothes but because their arms are a bit fat, they use the shawl to cover the flab. I am guilty of having such arms, so I would rather not wear sleeveless clothes only to cover my arms. Ooops, my bad!

That is our youngest child with her older brother, wearing the purple shawl of our eldest child. This photo was taken when the homeschoolers celebrated United Nations’ Day. They are looking at things representing South America. They are wearing “island” get-up because we belong to the Oceania group.

Dancing to the Year of the Ox

Last night we (my two younger children and I) were able to watch dance performances depicting the Chinese culture in the mall where we usually spend an hour or two every Monday and Wednesday before we go home with the hubby.

Anyway, the performances were good and good thing I have a camera with me in my bag as I always do so I was able to take some photos. These performances were in celebration of the Chinese New Year which is celebrating the Year of the Ox.

Some of the dancers were barefoot while some wore flat shoes. There were those who wore high heels and I was afraid they might trip and fall on the wood flooring because some parts of the stage were moving when they move.

Good thing none of what I was thinking happened. Whew!

Photography Field Guide Digital Book

For someone like me who enjoys reading fiction, I seldom read books or instruction manuals on gadgets and operation of things with mechanism.

I was quite surprised when I felt myself get a book entitled National Geographic Photography Field Guide Digital by Rob Sheppard. I got this from the bookstore with a photo below before we went to the supermarket after our lunch out yesterday. To think that I never got to read my camera’s manual thoroughly because I asked my hubby to read it and explain to me πŸ˜€

The book is not new, in fact it was a few years old already but the way the concepts were presented by different guest writers specializing in different aspects of photography were written well so I figured, “why not?”

I know I still have a lot to learn in digital photography especially about how to use lighting fixtures to take the photo I want depending on where I will use the photos.
