Tatak Pilipino

litratongpinoy.gif

What is the essence of a Filipino? It seems that we don’t have our own character as a people, as a distinct nation because we are the product of so many influences of different cultures and belief systems.

Despite this, we should be proud of our Filipino ancestors, who despite their basic and simple way of living, they showed perseverance and creativity.

Ilang tatak Pinoy ang nakikita mo dito?

Sometimes I think about going back to the basics, like the one below:

Manny Pacquiao Won Against David Diaz

Not really a boxing fan, nor a Manny Pacquaio fan but I think this is worth writing a short blog post about.

Yes, Manny “Pacman” Pacquaio won the ninth round by KO against the bigger David Diaz to take home the WBC Lightweight title .

Events like these are what we need during this time of distress and mourning, if only for a few moments of victorious pride. The positive result of the fight couldn’t have come at a better time than now.

Litratong Pinoy: Pahaba

litratongpinoy.gif

With all the photos I have depicting something rectangular/long, the photo below was the one I chose to feature since the street sign’s shape is rectangular, perfect for this week’s theme. I can’t think of anything more to feature. I planned to show my students’ photos using things that are rectangular in shape but their parents might sue me (harhar!). Most of them are different, or rather special, several having the condition we call autism. They behave in a box-like (square? rectangular? one way?) way since almost all their responses and feelings are being taught to them. But I don’t want to talk about them since I have written posts about them in my TeacherJulie.com blog.

Dewey Avenue?

Dewey Avenue? No, that is not in America. That is the name of the street in SBMA where the sign on a post, that we always pass by on our way to my parents’ house in the province.

But wait…The photo is blurred, my point and shoot camera had difficulties, my eyes are also blurred. I would just like to take a look again…

Ay! Bakit ganun? Me sulat, sulat Intsik ba yan? Bakit?

Oh my! Why is it like this? There are some strange writing, is it Korean, Chinese Taiwanese calligraphy? Why? Have they bought our country already, I mean the Subic Bay area, that’s why all the street signs as well as the tourist spots have these translations. Would it be possible that the day would come that we Filipinos will be considered as foreigners in this land of our birth? I hope not.
