#sentisabado

#sentisabado was super duper fun.

Senti = sentimental and Sabado = Saturday which was a day we reminisce about the good old days when things were simpler and we need to go through so many heavy encyclopedia books just to get to know who this and that scientist is.

Some of my tweets and FB status updates are:

  • dati pag nasa bilyaran ka, “tambay” ka, ngayon pag nasa bilyaran, idol si Efren “Bata” Reyes at gusto mo kumita ng maraming $$$
  • sino gumagamit ng ballpen para i-rewind ang cassette tape para di maubos ang battery ng Walkman? #sentisabado
  • Duran Duran OR Spandau Ballet? Basta ako nakipagsiksikan sa Duran Duran sa Araneta Coliseum 😉 #sentisabado
  • Identity Crisis and The Dawn are two of my fave local bands AND The Dawn! Enveloped Ideas is my favorite song. What’s yours?
  • di ba meron ding “Wea twins”? mga girls sila
  • slumbook hobbies: PEDROS = playing, eating,dancing,reading,outing,singing
  • teased hair +Aquanet spray net (i like mine in lilac canister)circa 80s,
  • Alice Dixon, “I can feel it!” http://youtu.be/qMWF-cKNCdk
  • I am the future of the world, I am the hope of my nation, I am tomorrow’s people, I am the new inspiration #sentisabado

It was really fun. Read more #sentisabado articles here and here.

Thanks Tonyo Cruz for #sentisabado.

Litratong Pinoy Weekly Challenge is on a Break

Litratong Pinoy Weekly Challenge is on a break.

I feel guilty.

Not that I was the cause the LP is taking a break but because I used to participate in the Weekly Challenge week after week, (without almost missing a beat).

But recently, my Litratong Pinoy entries have been a bit inconsistent.

I’ve also noticed a big decline in the number of participants: from 80+ it has gone down to less than 20. I wonder where the people are now? Have they stopped blogging? Did they ran out of Filipino words to write with? Have they stopped taking photos?

I hope when September comes, there will be a renewed interest for bloggers and photography enthusiasts to join again.

2010 Project 365

I am doing 2010 Project 365 here.

As I have written in the about page of Photo Stories:

I am not concerned with highfalutin photography terms nor do I aim to take a picture perfect photo, I just want to have fun capturing images and telling the stories behind such images.

November 2009 Blog Blast for Peace

In an ideal world, the conditions of poverty, social injustice, inequality, environmental degradation, and the weak do not exist.

Alas, we do not live in an ideal world but in a real and dynamic one where all these things, and more, exist.

We may not have time to pause and ponder on these issues while we go about minding our own business.

We may think we live in peaceful existence when we are not bombarded with these issues. Do we?

We can not carry and fathom all the world’s troubles and everyone’s worries but initiating positive changes, even when taken in small steps, can go along way.

My idea of peace, as I have written before, still stands true for me:

No matter what we do, we can not live in isolation and we are not immune to the ills of the world.

Oppression. Killing. Famine. War. Terrorism. Environmental destruction. Natural disaster. Even family matters that seem trivial, all these and more, cause disturbance of peace.

Through it all, maybe peace is a mindset, a lifestyle and a kind of wishful thinking. With all the negative things happening, can one really have a peaceful mindset?

For me, writing about peace is just one step in achieving it because even if one writes about peace but does not live it, then the effort would be futile.

Words are wonderful but actions are more than so.
