How to Look Busy at Work

You perhaps have a feeling that you work real hard but are not compensated well. You know, doing your best but not exactly getting the compensation that goes well with the hours, efforts and dedication you put on the job.

So you are wondering “how can I make myself busy at work when in fact I am having some downtime?”

Here are some tips to keep busy at work:

Emphasize how you are saddled with too much work. To the next ear willing to listen to what you have to say, emphasize how you have accomplished each and every step on the project that you are currently working on. Be prepared to enumerate the steps that you have done so far, if the other person asks questions.

Make your desk look “busy”. By making your desk look cluttered with reports, documents and multiple post-its, you give the impression that you are hard-at-work on some important tasks that need to be accomplished.

Make your desktop look “busy” by opening several applications at the same time. Doing research? Open several sites to make it look like you are busy keeping tab on what is currently happening.

Keep tab on when the boss is likely to come by. Be alert for the telltale signs that the boss, or someone who is tasked to look in for him is on his way to your desk. Scuffling of feet, feeling a presence standing behind or hovering by, talking voices, and taking note of certain times of the day, these are just some of the ways you may know they are coming.

to be continued…

Yes, here is the Part 2.

How to Hide Your Tagged Photos in Facebook

Friends and family love to tag you in photos taken with them when they post these photos in Facebook’s albums.

But when embarrassing photos come out for everyone to ogle at and talk about, you tell yourself, “Oh nooooo!!!!”

So you want to hide these tagged photos especially that one where it looks like you need the best acne treatment but don’t know how?

Here’s how:

  • Go to the clickable “Settings” on the top right of your Facebook page
  • Click the “Privacy Settings” when the menu drops down
  • Click on “Profile Information” and you will see a lot of choices like About Me, Personal Info, Birthday, etc
  • Scroll down till you reach “Photos and Videos of Me” Photos and videos you’ve been tagged in

facebook

  • Click that button and choose your preference whether you want “everyone”, “friends of friends”, “only friends” and “custom”
  • Custom setting will let you choose “Only Me”

So there. No need to un-tag your tagged photos nor have everyone see you in your third grade photo 😀

Looking for Balloons and Other Party Needs

I have been thinking about starting a balloons business with my mom since she has already clients in the province who orders balloons, birthday cakes, invitations and party needs from her.

Of course I wouldn’t want to tire myself while I traverse the roads going to Divisoria yet, where everything is being sold in retail prices, so I got to turn to online Classified Ads to see what it has on these party needs that I may write on my list when I have the resources and time in place.

And because I am excited, I decided to dream on when I saw this:

inflatables

I must say this is quite a wonderful way to advertise a balloons/party needs biz 😀

Check Your Insurance Policy’s Fine Print

Last Friday night, when mommy blogger friends and I had our post-Christmas party with our kids, one of the topics discussed was about the submerged cars of two friends whose homes were also submerged in flood waters during the unfortunate day when typhoon Ondoy visited the country.

The topic got me looking for car insurance articles which lead me to different sites including www.carinsurancelist.com among others.

There have been reports of a lot of insurance companies not honoring what are written in the policies regarding these damaged vehicles.

The topic also got me thinking  if there are insurance coverage in this country to cover home damages due to flooding.

I know there are other things that seem wrong in the policies regarding how these are implemented and because policy holders (like me) do not spend time to read the fine print, miss out on important details that may prove to be very useful during times like these.

Note to self: read the fine print. Always.

Supervising Children’s Online Activities

That children are tech-savvy these days, there is no doubt about it.

Why, even my children who are in early grades have an account (one account for both of them) in a popular social networking site. They use it primarily to play the games there.

When children are doing these, parents should be nearby to supervise their accounts. It is unwise to let them do unsupervised online activities using a laptop computer.

Even  if parents lecture about not divulging private information like home addresses, email addresses and phone numbers, still parental guidance is recommended (yes, I sound like a tv ad but this is very important).

Oh wait, before I forget, even parents or adults need some supervision too when it comes to supervising their privacy settings in these SNS.

Have you checked your privacy settings lately?
