Yes, I Really Need a External Hard Drive

My hard disk drive has this:

Merde!

I need an external hard drive pronto! Or I may have to back up. And back up and back up more.

I miss those good old days when films were being used and that we get to see the photos as soon as these are developed. These days my children just look at photos in the computer and not in photo albums. Or that may be just us because we just have photos printed when needed for school projects 😀

i-Google Mo

“i-Google mo” or “Google it” is a common term in this household that is held hostage by the world wide web when it comes to knowing what the latest movie is all about including where it is available at what time, how to bake/cook something and where one can find a location we need to go to.

Not only that, I depend on the web to watch shows currently being shown half the world away (hello my favorite tv series) and listen to songs of my choice. I also get to watch the latest movies. My son and hubby can watch the livestream of racing events. My eldest daughter looks forward to reading the latest chapter of her favorite anime series. My youngest daughter learns to draw from video tutorials.

Would the time come when the hubby gets an 1U server at home should he decide to just work from home? I’m guessing it is going to be a yes since he wants to do that for the longest time.

I can’t imagine how everything will be if we are not connected.

Are you dependent on the net too?

Birthdays are Milestones

Children’s birthday parties are super fun to attend, whether one has a child or not.

Of course, themed birthday parties can be a bit expensive on the part of the guests but hey, birthdays (especially FIRST birthdays) are milestones and should be celebrated.

The works: face painting, tattoo, balloons, magic show, birthday cupcakes and so much more to keep the guests entertained. Of course, goody bags to take home the fun 😀

I also look forward to receiving Christmas party invitations, ooops, I mean birthday party invitations because these “signal” the anticipation of fun. Am not excited for Christmas to arrive, no I’m not.

party

Parties however, give me a bit of a tinge of sadness because my children have not had grand parties to celebrate their milestones. I hope they won’t think I love them less because we were not able to provide these parties for them.

Happy first birthday to baby Jia. You are now officially a toddler. to Lani and Joel, let the chasing begin!

Retrospection About Career Choices

Talks about a possible career path with the young people I work with sparked up an interest in a retrospect of “what I wanted to be when I grow up” episode for me.

Full of enthusiasm, I plunged into the corporate world a few months after graduation. I of course expected to see modern office furniture, well-lighted cubicles, visits to the varied restaurant branches the office has and friendly officemates.

I was wrong.

Instead, the office was in a cramped old home of the restaurateur with not so adequate light, demanding boss and almost non-existent space to move about without stepping on someone else’s toes. Save for the free lunch, I decided to quit and be something else rather than a pencil pushing corporate slave.

Looking back (again), I think if I stayed on, I would have been still on a corporate ladder, making my way up steadily one step at a time. But then again, I wouldn’t be able to meet these wonderful children and their families that I have worked with for several years now.

And I wouldn’t trade that for anything the corporate world will offer me 🙂

Suddenly…

I never thought I’d say this to myself: I long for a heated blanket.

Unusual, knowing that I can tolerate cool weather except of course in extreme circumstances which rarely happens due to our climate.

The weather has been cool lately all because the rainy season is in full blast. Daytime is another story though. It is the season of “suddenly” as a television commercial says: suddenly there’s rain, thunder, lightning, the works especially during the afternoon. People with weak immune system are getting sick.

Here are a few tips on how to avoid getting sick during these times:

  • get enough rest/sleep
  • load up on ascorbic acid
  • bring rain gear whenever you will go out of your house
  • drink plenty of fluids
  • get enough exercise
