When Darkness Comes…

Darkness is the opposite of light, it is the absence of light.

There are many interpretations for darkness.

One of the most obvious one is the darkness of the night. When night time comes, so many things happen at the same time: people rushing home from work, birds finding resting places in trees, people sitting down to eat supper, people relaxing after a hard day at work and getting ready to rest to face another day.

On the other hand, there are those who hurry to go to their work. Some keep us safe and sound as we rest.

And so we rest when darkness falls:

Lots of people have already started with their Christmas shopping. I know of some people who are done with theirs as I write this post.

Its just a few weeks before Christmas and everything seems to be hurrying by. The days are getting shorter. The people are hurrying to and fro.

There is something about Christmas really that makes one feel frantic. Perhaps it is because its that time of the year when reports have to be filed, work has to be completed, shopping has to be done to avoid crowds and traffic jams.

Since the advent of the internet, shopping can now be done in a breeze. How? Through online shopping of course.

There is no need to brave through the crowds, wait in line to pay and deal with kids who think the mall is their playground online shopping is done. Shopping in the comfort of one’s own home has never been better.

I still haven’t thought of anything yet to give to my husband but I am thinking he might appreciate getting something like this to start working on his carpentry skills:

Wishful thinking 😀

Sunset Colors

The sky is first filled with colors,

Then with darkness when the sun sets,

We rest our weary bodies and reflect on how we lived the day.

We look forward to what tomorrow brings,

And pray that we will still be around to see,

The next setting of the sun.

May Liwanag Nga Ba?

Its Thursday once again. Time for Litratong Pinoy which serves as my “weekly editorial” for this blog.

The theme for this week is LIWANAG meaning light or the absence of darkness.

I thought that this post’s title “May Liwanag Nga Ba” reflects best the global financial crunch that we are experiencing.

People are losing their jobs, their homes, and their bright futures are suddenly dimmed. The financial woes are not stopping.

People are altering their lifestyles to be able to survive with lesser resources and if possible, save some for the rainy days.

People are panicking, withdrawing their investments and bank deposits and putting these in what they think are “safe” places, away from the banks whose integrity they now doubt.

The worst is not in sight and if what the financial analysts say that this is just the beginning of a financial Armageddon, how would we know the answer to “Where do we go from here?”

I hope you have not felt that you have over-extended yourself during these times.

Blog Blast for Peace on November 6, 2008

November 6, 2008Get your own peace globe at Mimi Writes

Last June, there was a Revolution of Words. This November 6, there is another round for the Blog Blast for Peace.

Here is a part of my entry for the June event:

Peace is a rare commodity. Its a commodity because it is expensive. Billions are spent to curtail war, to stop terrorism, to have peace. But with all the families broken, the souls destroyed, antiquities forever gone, do we even say that peace has been achieved? Are we even happy with the way things turned out? Can we truly say that we feel safe and secured? Can we really say that justice has been served or is being served or will be served to those who truly deserve it?

This November 6, join the bloggers who will once again be one in writing about PEACE.

For me, writing about peace is just one step in achieving it because even if one writes about peace but does not live it, then the effort would be futile.

Words are wonderful but actions are more than so.
