‘Tis the Season

Oh yes, ’tis the season to shop till you drop. With just a few weeks before Christmas, everyone is rushing to do some shopping to make it in time for the holidays just waiting around the corner.

‘Tis the season too to try to earn something extra. Businesses are alive now more than ever as excitement among shoppers and consumers build its momentum as the day gets nearer.

If one loves to shop, there are those who would rather be on the other end, doing business.

There are many different business opportunities that abound during the season where generosity becomes a second name: wholesale fashion jewelry, clothes, toys, food, and gadgets.

Food for one is a good idea. Why? Well, it is sometimes better to give food, as long as these are delicious, than give knick-knacks that will gather dust after a few weeks.

Speaking of knick-knacks, these are exactly what the young people would rather receive. Bags, accessories, tech gadgets, and things that will keep little hands busy, the young people love those. So for the business-minded, what better way to earn more but by engaging in a business while everyone is on a shopping mode.

Lots of people have already started with their Christmas shopping. I know of some people who are done with theirs as I write this post.

Its just a few weeks before Christmas and everything seems to be hurrying by. The days are getting shorter. The people are hurrying to and fro.

There is something about Christmas really that makes one feel frantic. Perhaps it is because its that time of the year when reports have to be filed, work has to be completed, shopping has to be done to avoid crowds and traffic jams.

Since the advent of the internet, shopping can now be done in a breeze. How? Through online shopping of course.

There is no need to brave through the crowds, wait in line to pay and deal with kids who think the mall is their playground online shopping is done. Shopping in the comfort of one’s own home has never been better.

I still haven’t thought of anything yet to give to my husband but I am thinking he might appreciate getting something like this to start working on his carpentry skills:

Wishful thinking 😀

May Liwanag Nga Ba?

Its Thursday once again. Time for Litratong Pinoy which serves as my “weekly editorial” for this blog.

The theme for this week is LIWANAG meaning light or the absence of darkness.

I thought that this post’s title “May Liwanag Nga Ba” reflects best the global financial crunch that we are experiencing.

People are losing their jobs, their homes, and their bright futures are suddenly dimmed. The financial woes are not stopping.

People are altering their lifestyles to be able to survive with lesser resources and if possible, save some for the rainy days.

People are panicking, withdrawing their investments and bank deposits and putting these in what they think are “safe” places, away from the banks whose integrity they now doubt.

The worst is not in sight and if what the financial analysts say that this is just the beginning of a financial Armageddon, how would we know the answer to “Where do we go from here?”

I hope you have not felt that you have over-extended yourself during these times.

Milk Scare

We have all been scared with the controversy about milk products and milk from China. Somehow we, especially the mothers, were affected that this has changed the way we lived for some time. Or maybe we still harbor those fears in our hearts.

The government does its work in investigating the problems but it is still up to us to do what we think is best.

So now that the news reports have released the partial list of milk and milk products that can be safely consumed, I ask you this question:

Do you think NOW is really the time to patronize our locally made milk and milk products or would you still trust products manufactured in other countries?

My answer:

Now What?

Paydays are probably one of the most anticipated days in a worker’s calendar.

I dread going to the supermarket during a payday because of the crowds. In the mall that we go to every Monday and Wednesday where my two younger kids and I wait for my hubby to come pick us up during my work week, the kids have commented time and again why there are more people than usual in the area where we wait.

My answer: It is payday.

There is another side to payday too. It means paying all the bills due and those include credit cards, utility bills, and anything that has a price attached to it.

When people lack money to pay for things that need immediate purchase or payment like emergency situations, they resort to getting  instant payday loan. Nothing wrong with this one just as long as one is able to pay what has been borrowed.

To those relying on pay checks, it is best to be able to budget one’s money and get purchases that one can afford. Planning or scheduling getting major purchases should be done in order to avoid unnecessary expenses.

It is better this way instead of ending up with nothing to spare and asking one self the question, “Now what?”
