KFC Kung Pao Chicken Pasta

Lunch today was KFC’s Famous Bowl Kung Pao Chicken Pasta. The dish is probably copied from a Chinese food called Kung Pao Chicken that came from the Szechuan Province in China, famous for its spicy food.

I am fond of spicy food and this one tickled my fancy. It tastes good enough though the sauce should have been “thicker” instead of being a bit watery. It could be better when served paired with garlic buttered toast or a slice of pizza.

Gangs in the Neighborhood

A block from where we live is a community of shanties where probably several hundreds of families live. I am concerned for our own safety when the young male people roam the streets at night. When they pass by our home, they talk heckle, laugh, shout like they have the right to do so, even if its late at night. They hurl stones at a neighbor’s mango tree teeming with green mangoes. They are unpredictable and I probably do not have to say I know why.

With the recent UP Fair fiasco where a lot of jumping jologs violently disrupted what could have been a fun concert, we wonder what is happening to these youth who are supposed to be the hope of the nation?

Sure, I always say, we should have heart to understand those who are considered as “underprivileged” or those who have “less” but if they behave like savages and do things that harm innocent people and destroy properties that are not theirs? I do not know why they are angst-ridden and their rage seem monumental

Tipanan

For couples, it is important to have a meeting place that they consider special to them and is a part of their relationship. This place bears witness to their dreams, sweetness and even their arguments.

Kung ako ang papipiliin, mas gusto kong tipanan ang nature, kumbaga at least dito, kahit kung minsan hindi mo maintindihan ang panahon, mas kaiga-igaya at nakaka-relaks.

If it were up to me, I would prefer the meeting place to be outdoors because it is more relaxing.

Craving for Blueberries

It was almost about this time last year when we had some fresh blueberries given by a student. It is from a place up north where these can be bought fresh and not frozen. All things berries like strawberries and blackberries can be bought there.

I wonder if they sell strawberry, blueberry or Blackberry plants? Still I would wonder if these will survive the hot temperature we have here in the lowlands.

Now that I have started baking, I am craving for some fresh blueberries so that I can make blueberry muffins. Now these definitely wold be bestsellers with my children 🙂

Home is Where the Heart Is

Steel heart. Bakal ng korteng puso.

That is a part of the iron grills of the front fence. I took this photo during the first week of the year with the colorful sunset sky as a backdrop.

Eto ay parte ng rehas sa bakod namin. Kinuha ko ang larawan noong unang linggo ng taong ito na ang langit na may magandang kulay dahil sa paglubog ng araw.

This is kinda symbolic because I was inside and have been staying at home enjoying domesticity due to the longest vacation last year. My vision of the world outside maybe limited but I must admit I enjoyed spending these days at home.

Isn’t it that we always say, “HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS”?
