Dead Spot

Yes, there is still such a thing called “dead spots” when it comes to having no mobile phone signals. In a student’s house, their smaller dining room where we have our reading lessons, there is absolutely no signal. My mobile phone’s battery drains so fast I have to turn it off. But if I take just a few steps away from that room, everything goes back to normal. They should really install boosters there like a wilson booster so I can use my mobile phone to connect online for some additional and interesting lessons.

And no, this house is not in a far-flung area, this is in a posh, gated village where the owner of one of the telcos probably lives because they own half the land in this city.

There are two foreign embassies nearby so I wonder if it’s possible that they have something to do with the dead spot? Hmmm….

Upping the Security

With the hubby recently involved with installing cctv cameras in home and offices (as well as public places) I’ve actually asked him if they have tried installing other things regarding upping the security protocol.

I even asked if they’ve been canvassing metal detectors on sale since I went with him one time to look at cctv cameras.

The need to make the surroundings secure is one of the things we have to do because of the rising crime that involves a lot of petty theft. Just last Saturday the car’s side mirror was taken by a thief while it was parked in front of the house. We’re guessing that it was during the heavy downpour that the thief came. Now there’s no side mirror and the mechanism it needs to move is also broken.

And the village is supposed to be secured and guarded. Hmph.

California Berry Ice Ice Baby

Sometime ago, I purchased California Berry’s Ice Ice Baby vouchers for the family.

I know we had these yummy desserts a long time ago, but I’m just blogging about it now.

Anyway, the kids enjoyed the idea of using the vouchers so much so I got another set of vouchers earlier this month. LOL.

gummy bears

Gummy bears and blueberries. Don’t ask, lol.

oreo

Oreo bits and shaved ice ala cookies and cream.

kiwi

Banana and kiwi slices.

There are so many kinds of vouchers to be bought online from restaurant vouchers (we’ve had a few of these) to vacation packages (no thanks), car cleaning services (we availed of this before too), cakes (I just ordered one a few weeks ago), “beauty procedures” (ahem!) and gadgets (we did too and had ordered another one last night). I wonder what they’ll think of next time: motorhome repair, leaky roof repair, gardening services or home-based pet grooming services?

I saw a house-cleaning services in one of the sites. I think I need more than one voucher, LOL.

Calamansi Love

I harvested, well sorta harvested, today several green juicy and definitely sour calamansi. Will post a better and higher res photo later. Click here for a link on the photo. Here is a photo of the sour babies:

calamansi

These have thin skin (dunno what they’re called) and very juicy.

Rains and used coffee grounds are two big help that had the little tree bear these little babies. Sunshine helped the little tree too of course. Everyday, I mix the used coffee grounds in water for “watering” the two little calamansi plants (the other one didn’t yield more than three of these) and the other potted plants. Still have to get photos of these pandan plants and green onions.

Yes, you can get a lot of benefits from used coffee grounds for your vegetable garden. And if you have a catering biz and Caterer Jobs, having your own vegetable garden will help you save some on your expenses to up your profit. #JustSayin’

Get used coffee grounds for free from a Starbucks near you.

Just one of the benefits of being REAL coffee drinkers. We stopped drinking instant coffee a long time ago and only have brewed coffee in the mornings and sometimes as night cap too.

If Only

Yesterday at the mall, when I got a pair of new Grendha Carolina Dieckmann pair, we saw a lot of people in the activity center. It turned out there was a sale on a popular brand of mobile phones. It just so happened that before going to the mall, I was looking at some models of the same brand so seeing the display there made me a bit excited.

A bit.

If circumstances are different (meaning next month is second semester tuition fee season for 3 kids), I would have gotten myself a unit. Though the discounts were not that big, at least, there’s discount good enough to entice buyers to get a unit or two to where the barcode scanners are.

The lines were quite long and it was just around noon. Had they organize this on a payday weekend, there would have been more people.

Oh well.
