Brown Waters

Matamis. Sweet.

That is the first thing that comes to mind when one is talking about chocolates.

Me in-edit na nga akong larawan para dito, isang chocolate fountain. Kaya lang nagbago ang isip ko. Heto na lang: I have already edited a photo for this theme, a chocolate fountain. But I changed my mind and decided on this instead:

Bucao River, Botolan, Zambales

Bucao River which runs from Mount Punatubo. The water is brownish, like chocolate. Maybe because the mountains in the background are also brown because there are no more trees. The brown color is apparent during summer.

Countryside Living

One of the advantages in living near the countryside is almost being in one with nature. Flowers, trees, the fields, even the sky, are one’s view anytime of the day. The air is fresh too and oftentimes sweet. At night, the stars are much brighter too.

Living in the countryside enables one to be sufficient. Fresh produce can be harvested from the backyard. Eggs from chickens are fresh and so is the milk from animals. Meat too from cattle and fowls can be had for fresh.

Sunday Nature Trip

early-morning-sky.jpg

I was a bit frustrated for I wanted to see the sun rise over the mountains. But we had a slow start so the sun was already rising when we were still in the house.

We traveled anyway and seemed to waste gas along the way.

As we did so, we saw lush green mountains, which were a part of the Sierra Madre Mountain Range, said to be the longest mountain range in the country.

The roads started to twist and turn as we burned fuel. I don’t really mind, we were enjoying the scenery.

Oh no! It is starting to rain. How will I take photos? How will we have our outdoor breakfast?

We didn’t get our outdoor picnic breakfast. I wasn’t able to take the photos I wanted but we got this:

foggy-morning.jpg

Nature really is full of surprises 🙂

We also went to another wonderful place not frequented by people but that would be for another post.

(There was a nasty accident involving a motorcycle rider before or after that turn in the second photo. The ride was really in bad shape and the rider was lying along the road with his fellow riders. I hope he is ok. There have been a lot of motorcycle-related accidents in this area I am wondering they weren’t banned from going this way. They could get  really fast on these twisties and tend to overdrive and have accidents. I shudder thinking about this when my husband rides with his buddies to this place.)

Luntian

It is lovely to see a green environment. Progress is good but caring for the environment should NOT be forgotten.

But oftentimes, people forget that the responsibilities are theirs, ours, in taking care of the environment.

Kelan ba talaga tayo matututo? Magtatanda?

When will we ever learn our lessons? When there are lives lost? Here is another photo, a bigger one of the same place but its a little bright.

China’s Pollution

China’s pollution is our pollution too.

With their thick fogs, it is no wonder their policemen’s life expectancy rate is at 40 years old.

It is in China where one can find 16 most polluted cities in the world. Out of 20.

Click here to read about the effects of these pollution.

Click here to read a lot of articles documenting about how its growth is probably choking the country.

Cars are even asked to get off the road to ease pollution or clear the skies for the forthcoming Olympics. There was even a suggestion that the cars go out on odd-even days, reminiscent of the traffic days we used to have, and still have here in Mega Manila. No, I am not kidding, click here and here.

I don’t want to think about what the dirty air would do to the athletes’ healthy lungs. Just thinking about it makes me feel that my nose is itching and my throat tightening.

China is also one of the countries where electronic wastes or e-waste is being dumped. People there, including children, melt the components as they try to look for something metallic to use or sell, inhaling poisonous fumes. Those that can’t be used are thrown into the rivers. Click here to read.

There is also this yucky green algae that has invaded the shorelines of Qingdao. Thousands of recruits from the People’s Liberation Army remove these algae by hand while standing knee-deep in it. Click here to read about its effect in the coming Olympics.

I have never been to China. I don’t have anything against the Chinese and their business and environmental practices. Maybe I do but I would rather keep these private.

My fervent wish if for them to curb these practices, not only for their sake but for the sake of other countries near them, for the sake of Mother Earth herself.
