School Days are Here

School starts in June where we live.

I have seen hordes of school children going to and coming from their schools. College students wearing white nursing shoes and coats, pinned name plates and lugging around heavy bags are also a familiar sight in the areas where universities abound.

My children start school next week and I am looking forward to another year of challenges and maybe a change in discipline tactics 😀

I miss summer days when I think of the time I need to get up and prepare packed food.

Philippine Teams Win at 2012 2nd Bi-Annual Pacific Asia Youth Games in Guam

Congratulations to the Philippine football under 12 team and the De La Salle Zobel-Philippine volleyball team under-14  for winning the titles under their division at the recent 2012 2nd Bi-Annual Pacific Asia Youth Games in Guam. More about their victory here.

Hooray for KB (or is it CB) who belongs to the Philippine football under 12 team. I’m sure you will be getting more soccer trophies in the years to come.

Sports is a great way for children to not just enjoy being outdoors, but to learn about cooperation, following rules, discipline and focus.

Congratulations!

Plants Love the Rains

I am back to taking care of new plants: mint, basil, eggplant and ampalaya. I have yet to harvest the calamansi fruits. The calamansi plants were a surprise because after caring for these for around 3 years or so, it was only last year that it started bearing the citrus fruits. Why? Because I water these with used coffee grounds mixed with water.

I do the same for the smaller plants. I plan to get a composter where the fruit pulp I get from the juicer for our fresh fruits can go so I don’t have to buy non-soil from the hardware store. Maybe I can get from my friend Cookie some worms for this composter. I am not fond of them the very thought of worms give me goosebumps but I may have to ask the cleaning lady to handle these for me, 😀

I will try to take photos of these new plants and hopefully have more to come especially since the rainy season is here. I say new plants because every year, I get new plants to take care of, haha.
