Oprah’s Half-Sister Patricia

Been watching the video of Oprah meeting her half-sister Patricia who just lives 90 minutes away from her.

This is a very touching story of a daughter looking for her roots and Oprah was just a “bonus”. And yeah as written in the article here:

“Her mother said that two of children had passed away, and I knew [from my records] that I had two siblings who passed away. She said one was named Patricia and one was Jeffrey,” Patricia said. “The hairs on the back of my neck stood up, because I knew that one of my siblings and I shared the same name.”

Awww… Talk about the bond between blood relatives that can’t be broken even if there are a vacuum between them created by years of being not together.

Sigh, these joyful reunions are what we need to keep us grounded.

Massage for Children

Every night when I tuck the children for bed, they ask me to put lotion on their leg and arms as their “nightly massage”. My younger daughter (who didn’t go to school today because she has a low-grade fever) joked if there is a citronella face cream.

I don’t know where she got the idea, perhaps because she saw me reading the net to see what is the best night cream to use.

I asked her why she asked that and she explained so that the face wouldn’t get bitten by the dreaded dengue mosquito. Yes, we use Citronella Insect Repellent to hopefully keep those mosquitoes away.

Anyway, these nightly massages do not only make our bond stronger, massaging also makes children happy and connected to their loved ones. Plus they get to relax more and enjoy their sleep 🙂

June Happenings

One of the best things to look forward to in June are weddings and here in the Philippines, the opening of classes. Both entail a lot of shopping, attending to details as well as yes, a whole lot of expenditures.

Weddings are wonderful family events. These are even made special when the couple go the distance to look for unique wedding favors (including bridesmaid gifts) as well as make the wedding unique and happy.

The opening of classes is one of the events to look forward to by families especially for those going to the big school for the first time. Many a tears are shed, both by the children and the parents.

June is also a day of celebration for my family since today, June 16, is my dearest mom’s birthday. It is also my parents’ wedding anniversary.

Do you have anything special for the month of June?

Magic Tree House Series
