Commercialization

There’s no denying the fact that once the -BER months are here, Christmas decors like tree decors, C6 led Christmas lights, gift suggestions and even greeting cards can be seen in malls. Christmas songs too are being played in public places.

Why ever not? In malls specifically, the music inspires people to think of what they would be buying for the coming season of commercialism giving.

Since my children are in school, I can now start to experiment on various baked goodies and make preparations for another round of Frugal Christmas.

Times have really changed. Gone are the days when children answer that Christmas is a celebration of the birth of Jesus. Now they look forward to Christmas because this special day is the day they open loads of gifts.

My Elusive Netbook Find

I have written about my need to purchase a netbook here and here.

I have read countless netbook reviews.

Last Sunday I was at it again. Looking at an Acer (like hubby’s netbook), a pink Toshiba (netbook, not the full-sized one), a Vaio  and a Mac when we went to a mall’s cyber center to buy ink for the printer.

Mac? Yep, even the kids said it looks different, feels different and more cool than other brands.

I’m afraid though that if I don’t get one soon, the budget would go to another major financial obligation, payment for tuition fee. Sigh, such is the life. Oh, the lure of an Android too is a strong one for me,

I’d better look for online contests soon, who knows I might win something there 😀

Nuvali One Evotech

Nuvali One Evotech Building is a cool structure. And by cool I mean literally cool.

One Evotech, Nuvali

The building was designed to have cool air entering the premises and plants planted between ramp-like pathways to encourage easier walking. There is only one elevator which, if one uses these ramps would not be used, especially for those who want to have some “leg work” done.

This green building was built according to the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environment Design) standards.

Another green building with green roofs was also visited in this trip, along with a visit to beautiful green homes. I’m not sure if Baldwin door hardware was used in these homes but I am sure that recyclable materials and minimized use of artificial lights are a part of the package.

It would be good for these homes to use Eco-Furniture too.

Not Made in Japan

It takes a lot to impress my husband to like a car that does not carry the brand and performance of cars that he has favored. So it was a surprise to learn he was reading a site on a car that would probably rank way down should he make a list of cars he like down to the cars that he doesn’t like.

And all this because he rode in a cab that has that brand and make which impressed him, which usually won’t given another circumstance.

Yeah, and he talked about the monthly terms he read. He read the manufacturer’s site and some other blogs related to the car brand.

I told him I have a former classmate who sells this brand which, incidentally, is not made in Japan. He mumbled something I didn’t understand and I didn’t ask what it was.

But if it was me, I’d say no, we are not ready for a purchase like this yet.

School Day Jitters

June 15, 2010 is the first day of school for my three children. As of now we are slowly purchasing the things they need. Next week is the week they starting to bed early again and that will probably have to be enforced with me too since I have to wake up early to prepare their packed lunch.

This school year is probably the start of a very busy one for us since the homeschoolers will be going to school. We will be dealing with a lot of projects, homeworks, school programs and other school-related issues not excluding financial matters.

Maybe I should start getting wrinkle removers supply for myself in anticipation for all these things 😀

Oh, and maybe this is THE time to start on that time management schedule. For me.
