Annoying People

Yes, there are many annoying people we have met. Of course, we can not remove the fact that we ourselves can be annoying to some people too.

Before I get lost enumerating why others find me annoying (hehehe… I know about this of course) let me just ask the Weekly Question:

Who is the most annoying person that you have been unfortunate to have met in person?

My answer:

Blog Blast for Peace on November 6, 2008

November 6, 2008Get your own peace globe at Mimi Writes

Last June, there was a Revolution of Words. This November 6, there is another round for the Blog Blast for Peace.

Here is a part of my entry for the June event:

Peace is a rare commodity. Its a commodity because it is expensive. Billions are spent to curtail war, to stop terrorism, to have peace. But with all the families broken, the souls destroyed, antiquities forever gone, do we even say that peace has been achieved? Are we even happy with the way things turned out? Can we truly say that we feel safe and secured? Can we really say that justice has been served or is being served or will be served to those who truly deserve it?

This November 6, join the bloggers who will once again be one in writing about PEACE.

For me, writing about peace is just one step in achieving it because even if one writes about peace but does not live it, then the effort would be futile.

Words are wonderful but actions are more than so.

Paano Na?

The theme for this week’s Litratong Pinoy is golden.

I thought about doing something different with this entry and related this to age. Yes, the golden age which we probably do not want to celebrate yet.

My idea was to post photos of people well into their 50’s who still work hard to support their families. Nothing bad here but to those who are older? How many times have we heard about a grandpa or a grandma with their frail bodies and brittle bones working not just to support their able-bodied children but also their grandchildren? We sympathize with them, sometimes we seethe with anger why they allow this to happen.

Mithi

Mithi. Wish.

People say, “Be careful what you wish for”. By the way, I have written a post about the song “What Kind of World Do You Want?” that was sung by one of my favorite bands, “Five for Fighting”.

Ang sabi nga nila, “Be careful what you wish for” Nga pala, me post ako tungkol sa kanta naWhat Kind of World Do You Want?na yan ang message mula sa isa sa paboritong banda ko, ang “Five for Fighting”.

What do I wish for? Money? Fame? A new house? Better living conditions?

Ano nga ba ang mithi ko? Salapi? (kelangan magtrabahong mabuti para magkarun nito) Kasikatan? (hindi naman ako artista eh bakit kaya?) Bagong bahay?

So what do I wish for then?

Ano nga ba ang mithi ko?

That children would be able to play in a safe environment.

That those needing to be put under proper care would be cared for.

That people will have decent places to live.

Dreaming for Others

As I go through this phase of my life, I feel I have accomplished some things that are very significant for me. I may be just over-estimating my measure of success but still, I owe myself that for working hard after all these years.

Dine has commented in a recent post I wrote about me making an advocacy in helping those who need help regarding getting or giving services to the families of children with special needs who cannot afford the exorbitant sky-high fees that the therapy centers (and therapists) charge.

Truth is, there are a lot of families with children who are in need of these services and they do not even know that these services exist. If they do, they probably wouldn’t be able to afford these anyway.

The Weekly Question #13 for this week will focus on dreams: the dream for others.

We may not be as rich as other people, nor can we even have resources like others have, but we can dream for others, can we? I know we do, even if sometimes we feel we also need help but in some ways, we are more fortunate than others. The fact that we are online and blogging about our thoughts tell us that it is so.

We dream of setting our sights to an advocacy or perhaps getting involved or maybe even putting up a foundation to help those people who have touched our hearts and moved us to tears.

We may not have realized this yet but deep within us, we care and we want to do something about it. This may not be the time for it yet but we will know when it is the right time.

Weekly Question #13

If you were to decide what advocacy would you like to campaign for as an advocate or being involved in a foundation, what sector of the society would you like to serve?

My answer:
