Poinsettia

Saturday mid-afternoon till early evening was spent at the Greenhills Shopping Center because my work schedule was not full. This week’s Weekly Question was even thought of while we were here.

Shopping is at its best here, with high-end goods as well as bargain goods to be had. The high-end shops sell expensive clothes, shoes, gadgets and toys.

The bargain section sells inexpensive and imitation shoes, bags and clothes. There are also lots of gift items from toys to household items like ceramics, laundry hamper, furniture, and food to mobile phones and knick-knacks related to Christmas.

Shopping haven really.

Here is a photo of a store selling poinsettia plants. Hmm…these really brighten up the day with the bright colors:

Have a great week to you all 🙂

Lunch Picnic

Weekend was spent quietly in a place where trees abound and where cool air blows on our faces. Lunch was served on a mat under a tree.

We had a lunch picnic, two hours of quiet time of lunch and snacks even before the lunch remnants were placed in the trash bag that we had. Yes, we do this, put everything in a bag to be thrown afterward.

Scratch the quiet since there were workmen milling around, getting the remnants of an obstacle course’s thingies lying near where we found our perfect spot. Still, it seems that time stood still for a while there.

The kids had fun and I had loads of photos. Here is another photo from this picnic.

I got interested in taking photos of these nearly leafless White Calachuchi trees:

But wait, I had to get a photo of those flowers in the middle, above the letters “uc” of greenbucks. So I decided to zoom in and take a closer photo:

Bargain Bags

Sunday was spent fussing on a new dog, getting early Christmas gifts, lunching on grilled burgers and getting groceries and the clothes from the laundry shop. In between that, we found a place that sells bargain bags.

Blazing Products bags to be exact. The bags and other sports equipments being sold are old stocks. Some are good as new and look clean. The others need some cleaning up before being used.

There were also binoculars, flashlights, tent, rain gears and other camping and sports products to choose from. Hubby saw a compass and got interested. I wonder if they also sell talking watches.

We got a padded camera bag for me and a small sling bag for my son.

Below is a photo of some of the products being sold there:

That empty spot on the top shelf was where I got my padded camera bag from. The price? PhP400.00 or roughly below $9.

By the way, one can have a laptop bag made-to-order from them.

Sunday Nature Trip

I was a bit frustrated for I wanted to see the sun rise over the mountains. But we had a slow start so the sun was already rising when we were still in the house.

We traveled anyway and seemed to waste gas along the way.

As we did so, we saw lush green mountains, which were a part of the Sierra Madre Mountain Range, said to be the longest mountain range in the country.

The roads started to twist and turn as we burned fuel. I don’t really mind, we were enjoying the scenery.

Oh no! It is starting to rain. How will I take photos? How will we have our outdoor breakfast?

We didn’t get our outdoor picnic breakfast. I wasn’t able to take the photos I wanted but we got this:

Nature really is full of surprises 🙂

We also went to another wonderful place not frequented by people but that would be for another post.

(There was a nasty accident involving a motorcycle rider before or after that turn in the second photo. The ride was really in bad shape and the rider was lying along the road with his fellow riders. I hope he is ok. There have been a lot of motorcycle-related accidents in this area I am wondering they weren’t banned from going this way. They could get  really fast on these twisties and tend to overdrive and have accidents. I shudder thinking about this when my husband rides with his buddies to this place.)

Zooming In

Living in the city is synonymous to being busy and having a hurried and harried life.

The sound of vehicles, the heat, the smog and the lack of trees around make people just accept urban living as devoid of nature’s sights and sounds OR they might crave for it’s beauty, peace and quiet.

The sky which in itself is like a canvas where wonderful colors can be seen can sometimes be dull.

Instead of seeing sunrise and sunset colors as well as cloud formations which people often times do not appreciate, we sometimes see airplanes, huge ones, flying above our heads. Not that its bad to see these, no not at all.

So I decided to try zooming in on some interesting objects that I can see around me for comparison.

An airplane flying overhead. One of the common things being noticed in the sky because of the noise it makes or the lights it flashes at night.

People rarely stop to smell the roses, so to speak. We are fortunate enough to be surrounded by trees and therefore we often hear the sounds of birds, playing happily among the branches, twittering and chirping.

it is quite difficult to take photos of birds because they do not stay in one place for long and I am just glad I was able to capture this photo (plus other bird photos) when I spent some time “bird watching” on the third floor of hubby’s family home.
