Looking Forward

2009 is finally here. We look forward to what this year will bring us at the same time we arm ourselves with the many life lessons learned from the year that was 2008.

Yes, we may still have hang-ups or emotional baggage but this year, we tell ourselves that we will do everything better than last year.

What are you looking forward to in 2009?

Wishes

Happy New Year!

I thought there is no LP today because those who celebrated New Year are still fast asleep. I was awake around 5am, I blame this on my body clock.

My first post for this year is about wishes symbolized by the candles we lighted last night.

Every candle has its own color and interpretation.

Before we (hubby, our son and I only because our oldest daughter went back to bed and our yungest daughter won’t wake up)  had our New Year meal, my son asked me what candlecolor I prefer. I answered “Green” because it represents money.

He asked me if this is for the food expenses, school expenses and gas expenses for me t be able to go to work. I said “Yes.”

I didn’t know he asked hubby the same question and that we had the same answer.

He said something which surprised us both.

“I like blue because it means PEACE so that everyne is happy and no one is figting each other. Its LOVE (pertaining to the candle that burned the fastest) because the first candle that melted was pink. Its love for us.

Hubby and I looked at each other and kissed him.

I wanted to cry then, out of joy and shame.

Thoughts for 2008

2008 was a special year for me.

The children had less sickness and we all learned a lot about each other as we spend more time at home due to gas price increase. Now that the prices are lower, we resume going back to our Sunday activities.

There are so many things to be thankful for, be these negative or positive.

I have just written a while ago,

being grateful is a big thing, because when you are, you still see these things as blessing and life lessons to be learned

Career-wise was still the same and if truth be told, I have had some painful moments to keep me company but I will not dwell on these moments.

I am thinking of taking some risks since I feel I have been complacent for long.

My online activities became better. I have created two more blogs including this one where I was able to write topics that may not interest others but I have written things that came from my heart.

Virtual friends became good personal friends with a common goal: to help other mothers like us in the never-ending quest to become better at what we do.

New Year’s Eve

We are obligated to join hubby’s family tonight for an early dinner because its his brother’s birthday.

We would have wanted to just stay in the house because it gets a bit nasty when the clock is nearer 12 o’clock. Almost the whole country mimics a war zone due to firecrackers being fired. Everywhere its smoky and noisy and dangerous.

The moneyed ones have fireworks display. City governments schedule fireworks display in key places at the stroke of midnight to lure away the people from their homes so that they would not light up firecrackers.

I personally know of a family whose home was almost burned down due to these practices. Yes, that was a tragic thing to happen on new year’s eve itself.

We spent the first few days of 2007 in the hospital because of a severe asthma attack that my son suffered. We wouldn’t want to have that repeated. Should I have stacked safety equipment then like respiratory protection?

Personally I always wish for rains during new year’s eve, for my own selfish benefits and its been drizzling since we woke up. To that I say “Woohoo!” (insert Plurk banana dance here)
