Gift-Giving

Christmas is fast approaching and everyone is almost starting to feel the frenzy.

From the home decorations to shopping for gifts to preparing the holiday calendar to squeeze in all the holiday parties that will be scheduled for the coming month.

The Weekly Question was conceptualized last Saturday as we were doing some rounds at the Greenhills Shopping Center.

We were looking at some items as possible gifts for the kids. Yes, we do not surprise them, we ask them what they want.

The younger ones were still undecided but I think they want a bike. My eldest daughter wants to have a new compact flash for her mobile phone for memory enhancement. She has been asking for this for months so she decided to just ask for it as a Christmas gift so we can finally give it to her 😀

So now I ask:

What kinds of gifts do you give to your loved ones during Christmas? How do you choose what to give?

My answer:

Yuck!

We love in live in places where cleanliness is observed and reinforced. Who wouldn’t want that?

But sadly, many Filipinos are not particularly bent on keping their surroundings clean. Not only should cleanliness be practiced with our bodies and inside our homes, it should also be practiced outside of it.

Look closely at the photo and see how blurred the background is. The background is blurred not because there is something wrong with the camera. The background is blurred because of SMOG or air pollution.

Ok then, here is another photo:

Lunch Picnic

Weekend was spent quietly in a place where trees abound and where cool air blows on our faces. Lunch was served on a mat under a tree.

We had a lunch picnic, two hours of quiet time of lunch and snacks even before the lunch remnants were placed in the trash bag that we had. Yes, we do this, put everything in a bag to be thrown afterward.

Scratch the quiet since there were workmen milling around, getting the remnants of an obstacle course’s thingies lying near where we found our perfect spot. Still, it seems that time stood still for a while there.

The kids had fun and I had loads of photos. Here is another photo from this picnic.

I got interested in taking photos of these nearly leafless White Calachuchi trees:

But wait, I had to get a photo of those flowers in the middle, above the letters “uc” of greenbucks. So I decided to zoom in and take a closer photo:

Sundays

Sundays are considered family days and days of obligation to go to church.

This is the day when we do things that are extra-special like cooking special dishes, going to special places, visiting special people and other things that we do that we give a special touch.

We had a special day today when we decided to have a lunch picnic.

During these two hours that we spent outdoors, I have taken a lot of photos while the two young children were running around, my eldest daughter had her ever-present earphones plugged in her ears and hubby was napping on the mat.

I chanced upon this small, young family from a distance, spending a quiet afternoon among the trees that provide shade and cool air:

The Weekly Question will touch on this topic:

What are the special things that you look forward to every Sunday?

My answer:

Kinagisnan

Kinagisnan.

Most Filipinos are traditional, even if we are already living in the so-called modern world. We still believe what our ancestors have believed in centuries ago.

Oo, me ganito.
