Facebook Timeline

So you’ve heard about Facebook Timeline and you want one? Here’s how to get your own Facebook Timeline. The easier way would be to find friends who already have and just click a button whereabouts his/her page so that you can get yours too.

Here is my current Facebook Timeline Cover Photo:

My Facebook Timeline Cover Photo

Pixie Pixels or Photo Stories is my photo blog.

At first Facebook Timeline looks weird, because it looks like an online magazine with different sections. It takes some time to get used to it. The wonderful thing is, it is like blogs, with archives according to year and month. For bloggers like me who are used to having archives, this is a great tool should I need to go “back in time” and look for that link I shared some time ago. It may be that link about a funny video on YouTube, the appetite suppressants for men I shared with a friend or something interesting in a link I shared that I have to write about.

Did you get annoyed with the new Facebook changes? I did, still am, with that ticker box that’s like a Stalker Haven, 😀

How to Prepare When Typhoons Come

Preparing one’s home in case of a typhoon is one of the more practical things we can do to be able to go through a day or two or even possibly a week-long survival from the different effects it may bring our way.

Expect brownouts, water leaks and very cold weather. For the more extreme weather condition, expect fallen down trees (no!!! we have trees beside the house), longer power interruptions and flood (noo!!! we almost got flooded inside the house two years ago).

Just in case, the most logical thing to do if these extreme weather condition come your way, better prep an “emergency kit” with the following:

  • non-perishable food items like canned goods, dried fruits, cereals
  • store bottled water
  • fresh batteries and flashlights with working bulbs
  • candles and matches (or have your rechargeable lights charged)
  • blankets and jackets

Charge all gadgets before the storms are in your area and reserve the battery for emergency cases.

Keep in touch with people just in case something happens.

Above all, keep safe in your home if your home is safe enough. Evacuate when needed and go to safer places. You don’t want to be the one being rescued like you see in the news, right?

Is Motherhood Right For You?

My long-time friend and I got together for lunch two weeks ago. As usual, we had so many things to talk about, even if we always “see” each other in Facebook. Yes, there’s no replacing face-to-face interaction 😉

Anyway, she told me about a woman who has two children. No big deal, right? The mother is single. Still no big deal, eh? The mother got “impregnated”at a sperm donor clinic, in vitro style, after she chose the would-be father from among other candidates. Said father is both the children’s biological dad.

Yes, this is possible, for career women who want to have children but don’t want marital ties (and woes?).

Morally… well I actually do not want to delve into the moral aspect of this topic because if the mother can take care of the two children, can love them unconditionally, can raise them to be good and responsible citizens, then I am probably a bit closed ear to hear anything that challenges the mother’s actions pertaining to morals.

Thing is, the idea fascinates me so, that women who don’t have plans of getting married can have their own child (or children in this matter) without strings and emotional ties attached. THEIR. OWN. CHILD.

I’d be happy to support my many friends should they want to go through this, yoohoo!

And if ever they do so, I would probably defend them from people who’ll question why they wanted to have this process done.

I know that after all has been said and done, after the smoke has been cleared in case the ammos are brought out, they alone can make choices for themselves.

They alone can decide if motherhood is right for them.

I know it will be. It is with me. 🙂

Shop Till You Drop

I’ve often wondered how much others earn.

Why?

Because they can afford to shop till they drop whereas we only shop when there is a need: broken school shoe sole, tight jeans and shirt, school performance and a school/family event where clothes we don’t have in the closets should be worn.

New bag? I still have bags I haven’t used yet. Unbranded. So what? The budget for a new bag which was a birthday gift from the hubby is still untouched.

New shoes? The pairs I use are still decent except my running shoes where one has the sole detached. I got a running event in three weeks so I think I need to get a new pair.

New clothes? As long as there are no big holes and clothes don’t look too shabby, I can hold off getting new clothes. The kids wear uniforms most of the time so we just make do with what they have except when it’s too awkward to wear jeans and shirts that are too tight.

One thing though, we don’t shop if we can’t afford because the thought of having to think about payday loans is something I don’t particularly want to be stressed with.

And yes, groupon sites are sites I’d look into again and again. Who knows, I might get good deals there. I already did and in fact, I still have to blog about it.

Google+

Everyone who has a Google+ account has been raving about why they like it. I for one like the Circles part although I must say I am baffled as to why people are adding me in their circles when I don’t know them at all.

Of course, I would not abandon Facebook especially since I have a big “garden” to tend and my family, close friends (and clients too) are there.

Some things I like about Google+

  • Google+ is the place where I don’t see those annoying tagged products for sale.
  • Google+ is where I don’t get game requests for games I’d rather not see not because I don’t want to but because I might get hooked 😀
  • Google+ is where I don’t read about the nonsensical babble of people who rant on and on about what they ate, where they went, and what they think about about topics that don’t held my interest
  • I’ve read articles and watched videos that were shared in Google+ and I must say I’m learning knew things when I click these links

As of now, I pretty much don’t participate actively yet in the discussions nor put links from my blogs because I’m still feeling my way there.

One thing though for me, please Chrome, stop crashing, I beg you.
