Gangs in the Neighborhood

A block from where we live is a community of shanties where probably several hundreds of families live. I am concerned for our own safety when the young male people roam the streets at night. When they pass by our home, they talk heckle, laugh, shout like they have the right to do so, even if its late at night. They hurl stones at a neighbor’s mango tree teeming with green mangoes. They are unpredictable and I probably do not have to say I know why.

With the recent UP Fair fiasco where a lot of jumping jologs violently disrupted what could have been a fun concert, we wonder what is happening to these youth who are supposed to be the hope of the nation?

Sure, I always say, we should have heart to understand those who are considered as “underprivileged” or those who have “less” but if they behave like savages and do things that harm innocent people and destroy properties that are not theirs? I do not know why they are angst-ridden and their rage seem monumental

Brown Waters

Matamis. Sweet.

That is the first thing that comes to mind when one is talking about chocolates.

Me in-edit na nga akong larawan para dito, isang chocolate fountain. Kaya lang nagbago ang isip ko. Heto na lang: I have already edited a photo for this theme, a chocolate fountain. But I changed my mind and decided on this instead:

Bucao River, Botolan, Zambales

Bucao River which runs from Mount Punatubo. The water is brownish, like chocolate. Maybe because the mountains in the background are also brown because there are no more trees. The brown color is apparent during summer.

Consideration to Others

Consideration to others for me is about courtesy.

It does not entail people to bow their heads in reverence to other people, not its not that.

Consideration encompasses not just respecting the opinions of other people, recognizing their personal space and doing things not just for your own benefit but for the benefit of others too. It shows in courtesy, knowing that there are other people besides yourself.

One of the things I don’t like to see are people who show (intentionally or unintentionally) actions that clearly do not show the proper decorum, especially when they are in public.

Take a look at this photo I took last week while I was waiting for my to-go order from a popular local food chain:

So the weekly question will focus on this photo:

What would you do if you see this in a restaurant?

My answer:

Suman at Manggang Hinog

Orange, the color, is the theme for this week’s Litratong Pinoy. Of course, I wanted to put a photo of an orange fruit so that is fits the theme right? I guess not. For those who know me well, they know I dislike the color orange and fuschia pink so I do not have things belonging to me with that color.
