We Love Walking

We love walking. I once wrote that walking is one of my simple pleasures. Well, hubby and I do, provided the place has fresh air, has lots of trees and we have something to tide over our thirst and hunger pangs when these make an appearance. Hats and perhaps Trekking Poles to complete our getup and we’re good to go.

My dream walk would be beside a bubbling brook at the foot of a snow-capped mountain with pine and fir trees. I can dream, right? 😀

I know this is far-fetched from the concrete jungle where we live and breath dirty air.

Out Walking

I still see the young-at-heart grandpas passing by our place every morning. Yep, it is their daily routine to do brisk walking, all four or five (sometimes six) of them. I wonder how they are able to do that daily, walking very fast while chatting and laughing. Maybe they take men vitamins or daily fitness regimen is good enough to make them alert and mobile despite their age.

Sometimes I wonder where they live. Sometimes I think of giving names to match their faces. Sometimes, I think about what they do after they take their walks.

If there is one thing I am certain of, is that I may hate to admit it but I think they can out-walk me anytime. Ouch.

Back to My Morning Walks

After more than a week of daily heavy downpour, the sun finally shone. Early mornings are cool and just perfect for walking. Yes, I am back to walking after several days of “stagnation”.

I have been exercising indoors but for me, nothing beats doing these morning rounds, never mind the many dog poo piles I have to be on the look out for, hah.

The kids noticed (well according to them) that my midsection looked better before the week-long rains but now I think I am back to the same shape prior to walking. Sigh.

Fenphedra to the rescue?

Hmmm… maybe not yet, I will give this early morning ritual some more tries as I go back to my routine. I just hope the rains won’t come back yet 😀

View From the Sidewalk

We went biking and walking Sunday morning at a nearby sprawling campus. It was a bit late when we started and I must say the weather is getting a bit warm these days.

The younger children and hubby rode on their bike and I walked.

I got interested in taking a photo of one of the colleges, the one near where we were staying under a shade.  I saw a man with a tripod who was taking photos of the building so I took a photo too 😀

My photo of the CoE building as viewed from the sidewalk.

A New Bike!

The kids got their Christmas gift a week earlier before Christmas: a new bike (which they had to share since we still have a bigger and rarely used bike which belongs to my eldest daughter).

Biking in the house ain’t fun so we bring this bike if we go to my hubby’s family home where  the streets are much safer to navigate than those in front of our house.

Here is my son, guiding his bike as he gets ready to tackle the wide roads of our favorite weekend place, that place where we go walking in the woods on Sunday mornings, and/or have picnic,  and/or go to hear mass.

Just the perfect place to learn to ride a bike, which is like a bikers’ “heaven” during Sundays.
